May 2022 CEO Message

Available and affordable highspeed internet is one of the most needed services in underserved, rural locations. Similar to the way we began setting poles and stringing electric wire to bring energy to rural areas in the past, our Fiber division is expanding to provide high-speed internet service to more and more communities.

I am pleased to announce that Orange County Fiber, a division of Orange County REMC, is now expanding into Dubois County. On March 28, Orange County Fiber opened an office in Jasper, Indiana, and Carla Buechler, a Dubois County resident, has been hired as the Jasper office manager.

Grant funding through the federal and state government has made this opportunity possible, along with a partnership with our neighboring electric cooperative, Dubois REC. The ARPA funds granted to Dubois REC allow much of rural Dubois County to receive our service in the next 24 months. I would like to thank the Dubois County commissioners and Dubois REC for their cooperation which has streamlined the process.

For more information about the scope of this project, and the schedule of service installation in the Dubois County area, visit myremc.coop, and look for the “Spotlight Stories” on the home page.
