Time Of Use Rate

Orange County REMC Time-Of-Use (TOU) rate provides members an opportunity to save money by shifting their electric usage to off-peak hours, either by making lifestyle changes or through the use of technology like timers, programmable thermostats, etc.

Instead of a single flat rate for energy use, time-of-use rates are higher when electric demand is higher. This means when you use energy is just as important as how much you use. "On-Peak" time is 7-11 a.m. and 4-9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Energy used at this time costs 16.7¢ per KWH. Members who use energy at all other times will only be charged 6.9¢ per KWH. (See illustration below.)
