Network Technician – Orange County REMC, Orleans, IN Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Network Technician primarily working in the Orange, Dubois, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed. The Network Technician will report to the Network Engineering Manager and will be responsible for the maintenance and support of Orange County Fiber’s infrastructure and member/consumers. This includes, but is not limited to, the functionality and reliability of member networks and other network systems. The technician will trouble shoot network issues, talk with member/consumers, and ensure smooth communication between computers and other networked devices. At Orange County Fiber, the technician should expect to be involved in new build projects and the ongoing support of the fiber and wireless networks. The position will consist of regular face-to-face and phone conversations with member/consumers, weekly meetings, and working together as a team to achieve the goals of Orange County REMC and Orange County Fiber. The network technician will be responsible for installing and configuring network equipment and hardware, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network problems, keeping accurate documentation, providing prompt and accurate customer service to member/consumers, and work alongside other members of the IT team to ensure overall network health. Additional projects or duties may be assigned as the department superviso0r sees fit. This is a full-time position with occasional mandatory overtime and a rotating on-call schedule. Preferred candidates will possess the qualifications listed below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience • High School Diploma/GED • Related degree in field, preferred • Certifications in industry, preferred • 2+ Years of experience in technical support, network administration, or related field Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems • Linux Proficiency, preferred • Experience with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and software • Understanding of network security principles and practices • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities and experience Personal & Position Qualifications • Must be capable of meeting deadlines. • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members/consumers, and others. • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team. • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse audiences. • Ability to work overtime, and on a rotating on-call basis after hours and on weekends.
